FAQ - Personal Meal Prep
Frequently Asked Questions about Michael Rohde's Personal Meal Prep
What areas do you serve?
I primarily serve the Lamorinda and Walnut Creek area, including Moraga, Lafayette, Orinda, Rossmoor, and Walnut Creek (neighboring communities upon request).
How do you handle grocery shopping?
For In-Home Prep I handle the shopping to make sure every ingredient matches the week’s menu and is as fresh as possible. You reimburse the exact store total.
For Delivery: I handle everything and the cost is built into your flat-rate package.
Do I need to be home while you cook?
Not at all! Many of my clients are at work (or working from home) or out running errands. Since I also provide senior and pet care, I am experienced in "key-holding" and maintaining the security and integrity of your home while you are away. I will text you for arrival and departure times.
What kind of containers should I have?
For in-home service, I recommend a set of uniform glass storage containers (like Glasslock or Pyrex). They are microwave/oven safe, stack easily, and allow you to see exactly what’s inside. If you don't have a set, I can help you select and purchase during our first week.
For Cook & Deliver, all meals are delivered in high-quality, compostable, or recyclable containers designed for easy reheating and zero-waste cleanup.
Can you accommodate specific dietary needs?
Absolutely. Whether you are focused on low-sodium meals for a senior family member, gluten-free options, or "hidden veggie" dishes for picky kids, we will discuss your preferences (within reason) during our initial consultation.
How long does a typical in-home session take?
Most sessions take between 3 and 4 hours (time varies with kitchen set-up or equipment). This includes the cooking of your four dishes, portioning them into your containers, labeling them with heating instructions, and a thorough cleanup of your kitchen surfaces.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations. This allows me to adjust my shopping schedule and offer the slot to another client. For less than 48 hours notice, I ask for 50% of the service fee.
How do I pay you?
I accept payment via Venmo, Zelle, or credit card at the time of service.
Can you prep meals during a Senior Care or Pet Sitting visit?
Yes! If I am already in your home caring for a loved one or a pet, I can often integrate light meal prep or "fridge resets" into that time, booked separately. Ask me about custom 'Care & Cook' bundles for a more integrated approach to your household needs.
